Lexical verbalization of the concept “sin” in the English and Russian languages

Abstract
The article deals with the research of the peculiarities of formation and representation of the concept “sin” at the lexical level of the English and Russian languages. The dictionary definitions of the English and Russian lexical units with the meaning of “sin” have been studied, the core and the periphery of the concept under consideration have been determined. The derivational potential, the peculiarities of the word formation and the nominal density of the core lexemes of the concept “sin” have been identified. The distributional properties of the core lexemes have been studied; the process of desacralization of the concept under consideration has been described.

Статья посвящена исследованию особенностей вербализации концепта sin/грех на лексическом уровне английского и русского языков. Изучены словарные дефиниции английских и русских лексических единиц со значением sin/грех, установлены ядро и периферия исследуемого концепта. Выявлены деривационный потенциал, особенности словообразования и номинативная плотность ядерных лексем концепта sin/грех. В статье также изучены дистрибутивные свойства ядерных лексем, описан процесс десакрализации исследуемого концепта в сопоставляемых языках.
