Representation of anthropocentrism in the texts of the English- language business press

In the texts of the business press anthropocentrism manifests itself through the so- called communication triangle “author-text-reader” and is expressed by the medium of a variety of means. Among them the structural-grammatical means play an important role because they reflect most clearly the anthropocentric nature of the texts of the business press, help the author get into an indirect dialogue with the reader and affect him or her as appropriate.

Concepts “honneur” – “déshonneur” in the Linguocultural Content of French Phraseologisms

The article presents the results of the research concerning antonymous concepts “honneur” and “déshonneur” and their place in French linguistic picture of the world. These notions represent in a language a semantic unity based on opposite concepts-universals and the ways of linguistic expression. These concepts are reflected in French proverbs and go back to different ages of the development of the French nation. The main aim of the article is to specify the notion “concept” on the basis of the works of Russian linguists, to present the results of the analysis of the paremiological materials of phraseological dictionaries.

Comparative analysis of cognitive mechanisms of B. Obama and A. Merkel’s discourse

This article is aimed at description and comparison of cognitive mechanisms of B. Obama and A. Merkel’s political discourse for the right understanding of their views on policy. Comparative analysis is based on such components of cognitive model as cognitive and conversational strategies and emotionality. The results testify that there are both similarities and differences, which are caused by cultural peculiarities and politicians’ views.

Main features of realia and lacunae interrelation in fiction

The article deals with the main features of ethnographical lacunae elimination considered as renomination process. The study is based upon French translations of novels and short stories by I. Bunin. Different types of renomination used for lacunae elimination both in the text and the translator’s metatext are analyzed. The author comes to the conclusion that lacunae and realia are complementary phenomena and their systemic analysis helps to study the peculiarities of rendering the culture-specific notions in a target language. It also can reveal the possible loss of culture-specific information in translation.

The floristic metaphors in children’s literature as a problem of theoretical translation

The article purposes to analyse the translational reproduction of the semantic component of the floristic metaphors used by Margaret Wettlin while translating the kid’s story “The Adventures of Neznayka and his friends” written by N.Nosov into English. The pecularities of the floristic metaphors translation based on the differences in the linguistic pictures of the world between two nations were revealed by means of text comparison of the original and translated variants.

An Axiological Component of The Linguo-Cultural Type “Héros Combattant / Hero-Fighter”

The life of a hero-fighter as a linguistic and social personality is organized around hierarchically arranged value dominants, which are socially and individually determined and form his conceptual and linguistic pictures of the world. Such dominants are believed to semiotize the hero’s linguo-cultural space, consequently identifying the objectives and priorities of the society, as well as shaping the personality’s outlook.

On Modern Quality Spanish Digital Press and the Headings in its Context

The 1st part of the article touches upon the adequacy of usage of the British term “quality” in relation to the Spanish digital press, shows its general characteristics and special features. The 2nd part is devoted to different classifications of the headings by their syntactical type, structure and semantics. The overall conclusion is made that all the modern headings comply with the main grammatical rules of La RAE.

Typology of Intertextual References of a Television Film as Text

The article considers a television film as a text and its verbal component as being of primary importance, which allows adopting a philological approach to studying the vertical context and intertextual references as the main objects. The article aims at researching the structure of the vertical context of a television film based on the typology of intertextual references and their referents.
